Seattle Breast Implants
Dr. Lisa Sowder, a board certified plastic surgeon in Seattle, WA, has many goals for her patients. She has a very specific philosophy when it comes to breast augmentation. She wants her patient’s breasts to look as though they could have occurred in nature. She wants other women to wonder “how she got so lucky?” Not “I wonder who her plastic surgeon was.”
Dr. Sowder has found that by using implants on the small side (she rarely goes over 350cc), the breasts look and feel more natural, enhancing your appearance rather than defining it. Casual acquaintances may not notice your chest but will notice the way clothing fits you better and the way you move with more confidence. Shopping for clothing will be easier and more fun. Trips to the lingerie department will be enjoyable instead of frustrating. You may find yourself getting undressed with the lights on! Breast implants may not change who you are but they may change your self-perception and enhance your self-esteem and thereby enhance your personal relationships.
Dr. Sowder evaluates each patient as an individual and takes your age, general health, childbearing plans, social situation, body type, activity level and, of course, the look you want into consideration before making a surgical plan. At your initial consultation, you will "try on" some implant sizers and see many before and after photos to give you an idea of what she can accomplish with your body type. In some cases, patients are better served by a breast lift than an augmentation. In some cases, a tummy tuck or liposuction will balance your figure and breast surgery is not recommended at all.
She emphasizes patient education. Breast augmentation is a good operation but not a perfect operation. What can be accomplished depends a lot on your anatomy in addition to her skill. Realistic expectations are an important part of successful surgery. Breast augmentation is real surgery with real risks and should be done by a real, fully trained plastic surgeon. Also, breast implants may not last a lifetime. Dr. Sowder believes that patients need to accept these realities prior to making the decision to have breast implants.
Dr. Sowder has access to just about any implant available in the United States and has been an investigator for both Mentor and McGahn silicone gels for patients who meet the inclusion criteria. She has a skilled and caring staff that will help make your surgical experience a pleasant one.
