Breast Implants and Breast Augmentation Stories from our Visitors

If you have already read Nicole's Story, you have a pretty good idea what this section of the website is all about. After several women emailed their breast augmentation stories to us, we thought it would be great to have women share their full-length recovery stories after their breast implant surgeries for everyone's benefit. Thankfully, many women have contributed, some in more detail than others.

Here are the stories of our visitors. Many names have been changed for privacy. Where appropriate, there is detail in parentheses so you can decide if you are interested. Click on a name to read.

Travel to New York for Breast Augmentation & Benelli Breast Lift

I have enjoyed reading all the personal stories on Nicole's site, and I am sure I speak for many women stating that personal stories help others. I hope that mine will be helpfull to others.

I am 41 years old and breastfed two children. I always liked the size of my breasts (36D). I noticed over the last few years the skin under my areolas was beginning to diminish. Thoughts of having a lift crossed my mind but I feared the scarring that is associated with the surgery. So for the last few years I talked about it with my husband, but I never did anything about it until recently. I began researching everywhere about lifts and augmentation. I have become breast obsessed as I am sure everyone on this site has lol.

I consulted with a very well known plastic surgeon in New York City. His approach to my breasts was everything I wanted to hear. He was against going under the muscle and performing lifts unless either was absolutely necessary. This is exactly what I wanted to hear. Have implants to correct my mild to moderate sagging breasts. I was ready to schedule my trip from Massachusetts to NY for surgery December 2007.During the mean time I kept on researching more about Ptosis (sagging breasts), and although I liked his idea I wondered if this truly was the best approach.

I told my doctor I knew exactly what I wanted, "overs" for volume and a lift. He agreed over was the way for me to go, because I had plenty of breast tissue. He then told me for optimum results that he recommends a areola lift with the pursestring sutures. Not exactly what I wanted to hear, but within minutes, I accepted what he said, and knew that he wanted to provide me with the best possible results. This proved to me, that results were very important to his verses making a quick buck. My surgeon's wonderful nurse told me to think about everything for a week and she would contact me by phone. I believe it was only two days later that I called her and scheduled my surgery for October 24, 2007. She was so patient, I had a million questions, she never once seemed irritated with anything I asked. She is a great listener, very knowledgeable, and like my surgeon, she is very kind.

I purchased vitamedica vitamins for plastic surgery. This special package includes AM and PM vitamins, Arnica Montana, Bromelain, and Arnica cream. I cannot stress enough how much this helps. They sell it on Makemeheal.com. This stuff is great. It really helps with the swelling, adema, and bruising.

I can say that I was not really nervous before surgery. I did have some fear of the post op period. Alot of patients from this site say how painfull the recovery is, so I mentally prepared myself. I spent the few days before surgery cleaning house, food shopping, bills etc. Then night before surgery my husband and I spent the night in a hotel in the Boston area to avoid the messy morning commute.

Day of surgery. Showered & took pre-surgery meds and vitamins. Arrived at the doctor's office where he has is own surgical suite. Took medical photos, went over medical history, meet with the anesthesiologist,& had my markings done. Within 5 minutes I was off to the operating room and my iv was inserted, out like a light in 30 seconds. surgery took two hours, next thing I know I am wide awake and alert. I was told to expect a very heavy feeling on my chest. I woke to no pain at all or that heavy chest feeling. I got dressed with help, I was hugging all the nurses. Drank gingerale & ate crackers, on my way home in 30 minutes.

On the drive home from Boston I was making phone calls and chatting all the way home.I never felt sick. When we arrived home I was ready to go out for dinner.I almost talked my husband into it.I think he thought it was best that I relax at home. I could not relax. I went into the bathroom and took my top and bra off so I could see the results. Two hours post-op I checking myself out.To my suprise I saw nice firm uplifted boobies.I was thrilled. Spent the rest of the day chatting on the phone and watching tv. Went to bed the night of surgery and slept pretty well, even on my side. I did change from one side to the other but still no pain. A little bleeding around the areola, which is normal when the lidocane wears off.I have been using nursing pads to catch any little drops of blood that ooze from the incision site.

Thursday-1 day post op. Today I still do not have pain. The feeling is more like others have described as when your milk comes in after giving birth. Engorged but not painfull. I do not have much swelling, breasts feel heavy, but to this point I have not taken even one pain pill.

Friday- post op day 2. I feel great today. My breasts are already starting to drop. Took a shower, washed and dried my hair. I wanted to go to work this afternoon but I realized I should just try to enjoy the time off. Did a couple loads of laundry, planning to go out with my husband tonite, because I am going crazy being at home. My post op appointment is next Tuesday, I have melting sutures so I assume I will just be checked to see how things are healing. I cannot wait to see my doctor and his awesome staff. This was a wonderful experience for me. I hope others can be "uplifted" (no pun intended) by my experience. I will follow up in the next few weeks with updated photos.
