There are many kinds of anesthesia. Choosing the right type for you will depend on your surgeon's preferences as they interact with the procedure you are having and, more importantly, your overall health, medications you may be taking, specific conditions you have, etc.

Make sure that your plastic surgeon employs the services of a certified anesthesiologist, or a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). To verify if your anesthesiologist is board certified, do a search on the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) web site.
