About the Doctors
C. Cayce Rumsey III, M.D.Originally from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Dr. Rumsey began private practice in Jacksonville in 1993, and founded Ponte Vedra Plastic Surgery a year later. He completed his undergraduate studies at Birmingham-Southern College, graduating cum laude with a B.S. in Chemistry. After receiving his medical degree from the UAB School of Medicine in Birmingham, Dr. Rumsey completed four years of surgery residency and a one-year plastic surgery fellowship at the University of Florida Health Science Center. Dr. Rumsey then completed a two-year residency in plastic surgery at the University of Tennessee, with emphasis in aesthetic surgery. Dr. Rumsey is a diplomate of the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the Florida Society of Plastic Surgeons and the Greater Jacksonville Society of Plastic Surgeons. Dr. Rumsey is board certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery. He resides in Ponte Vedra Beach with his wife, Erika, sons Cameron and Harrison and daughter Samantha.
Robert W. Burk III, M.D., F.A.C.S
Originally from Parkersburg, West Virginia, Dr. Burk attended the University of Virginia graduating with highest distinction and induction into Phi Beta Kappa. He received his medical degree at Duke University and general surgery training at the University of Florida in Gainesville. Dr. Burk completed the five-year surgery program and was selected as the Outstanding Teaching Resident during his chief year. He also has completed a two-year plastic surgery residency at the University of Alabama-Birmingham with Dr. Luis Vasconez, with emphasis on aesthetic and endoscopic plastic surgery. Dr. Burk is board certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery. He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. He is also a member of the Florida Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Florida Medical Association, the Duval County Medical Society and the Greater Jacksonville Society of Plastic Surgeons. Additionally, Dr. Burk is a Clinical Professor in the University of Florida Division of Plastic Surgery. He also has been voted by the readers of the Ponte Vedra Recorder as the Beaches best plastic surgeon.
Dr. Burk and with his wife, Nancy, three sons and daughter reside in Ponte Vedra Beach.
Paul J. Scioscia, M.D. , F.A.C.S.Dr. Scioscia came to Northeast Florida after extensive training in general surgery, plastic surgery and aesthetic surgery. His goal has always been to provide his patients with the highest-quality care, in a respectful and discreet manner. Dr. Scioscia began his career at Vanderbilt University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree, studying molecular biology and chemistry. He received his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Dr. Scioscia then completed an internship and a five-year residency in general surgery at the University of Pittsburgh and Penn State University. Following that, he completed a two-year residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the Medical Center of South Carolina in Charleston. Dr. Scioscia elected to extend his training to sub specialize in cosmetic surgery. He did this by completing a one-year fellowship in aesthetic surgery at New York University in New York City where he was trained by some of the world’s most-prominent plastic surgeons. Dr. Scioscia has dual board certification by The American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery. He is currently the President of the Greater Jacksonville Society of Plastic Surgeons and is an active member of numerous professional societies, including the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. Dr. Scioscia has been named one of "America's Top Surgeons" by the Consumer Research Council and one of Jacksonville's "Top Docs" by Jacksonville Magazine. He has published numerous scientific articles and given seminars on various plastic surgery topics.
Brett J. Snyder, M.D.Originally from Jacksonville, Dr. Snyder attended Vanderbilt University graduating magna cum laude with a B.S. in Molecular Biology. After receiving his medical degree from Vanderbilt University Medical School in 1989, he completed a residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Stanford University in 1995. The following year, he served as fellow at the Australian Craniofacial Unit. Dr. Snyder returned to join the Clinical Faculty at Stanford University in 1996. Working primarily at the Kaiser Santa Clara Medical Center, he developed programs in craniofacial and cosmetic surgery. In 2000, Dr. Snyder moved his practice away from the San Francisco Peninsula to join Napa Valley Plastic Surgery Associates. Despite a successful practice and a productive vineyard, Dr. Snyder decided to return home in order to live near his family. He is joined by his wife, Susan, and three children, Thomas, Sarah and Luke.
Dr. Snyder’s primary clinical interests include cosmetic surgery, laser skin rejuvenation and breast cancer reconstruction. He is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is actively involved with Interplast, a non-profit organization providing free reconstructive surgery to children. He has led trips to Laos and participated in missions to Vietnam and Peru.
