Peter J. Capizzi, M. D., F. A. C. S. is a plastic surgeon with advanced training and expertise in breast, body, and facial surgery. He is board-certified in both plastic and general surgery.

Originally from New York City, Dr. Capizzi and his family relocated to rural New Hampshire. He then undertook his secondary schooling while in New England. Graduating in the top 2% of his class with interest in science, literature, and biology, Dr. Capizzi went on to major in Biology and minor in English literature at Villanova University. After graduating with distinction, he received his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School and completed his training with honors. After completing his plastic and general surgery residencies at the world-renowned Mayo Clinic, he embarked on additional training in cosmetic and breast surgery.

Dr. Capizzi is currently an active committee member of the American Society of Plastic Surgery and the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. As an Assistant Clinical professor he mentored plastic surgery residents of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He was instrumental in forming the Greater Charlotte Plastic Surgery group, a community group of all board certified plastic surgeons within the metro-Charlotte area. Active within the North Carolina Medical Society, Dr. Capizzi, maintains strong health interests locally. He is chairman of the Plastic Surgery Department for Presbyterian Hospitals of Charlotte, Matthews, and Huntersville.

About the Practice

The practice of Stillwater Plastic Surgery is located at The Doctors' Building in the newly developed Birkdale Village. Dr. Capizzi's office is a state of the art facility, with a private entrance, beautifully appointed waiting area, and exam room. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by our concierge who will address any of your practice questions. With up-to-date computer technology and a private digital photography studio, our office features the most modern, private, and safe environment in which you can discuss, learn, and proceed with cosmetic surgery.

For all his operative procedures, Dr. Capizzi operates in only fully accredited surgical facilities that use board certified anesthesiologists. The Northcross Surgery Center and Presbyterian-Huntersville Surgery Center are both Medicare-JCAHO approved outpatient surgical facilities. Both are located at in the Birkdale/Lake Norman area and are adjacent to hotels with private rooms to maximize your care.
