Throughout his career, Dr. David VanderWall has built his skills and experience helping a variety of patients with diverse needs – both aesthetic and reconstructive. His current practice is now primarily cosmetic with emphasis on facial asethetics including Rhytidectomy (facelift), Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), and Rhinoplasty (nose surgery). Other procedures of expertise include body contouring, breast augmentation, and breast reduction.

A leading proponent of enhancing the process and outcomes through technology, Dr. VanderWall brought the first Argon Laser to Grand Rapids. He is also skilled in the use of Candela, Yag, and CO2 Lasers in the treatment of numerous skin conditions.

Early in his career Dr. VanderWall completed fellowships in plastic surgery and in the care of acute burn patients. While establishing his practice, he became a clinical professor of Surgery at Michigan State University, where he taught for more than 28 years.

He also served as director of the Blodgett Memorial Medical Center Laser Clinic. Dr. VanderWall also dedicates his time to working with future plastic surgeons at the Grand Rapids Medical Education & Research Center for Health Professions (M.E.R.C.) Plastic Surgery Residency, Spectrum Health East Campus and volunteers his time and expertise to Operation Smile International.

• Recipient of the Commitment to Excellence Award in Recognition of Dedication and Effort to Plastic Surgery Clinical Teachings - GRAMEC Residents
• Authored numerous articles and scholarly presentations
