Our History

When William T. Berkeley founded Charlotte Plastic Surgery in 1951, he became the first plastic surgeon to serve the Charlotte community. Since that time, CPS has grown to seven plastic surgeons and three plastic surgery facilities located in Uptown Charlotte, the Lake Norman/University area, and Ballantyne to best serve the needs of our patients in their own neighborhoods.

When electing to have plastic surgery, the most important decision you will make is the selection of your physician. Every physician at Charlotte Plastic Surgery is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. This accomplishment means our doctors have completed an approved surgery residency of at least five years; completed an approved plastic surgery residency of an additional two to three years; passed rigorous oral and written examinations; and practiced medicine for two years, as well as earning undergraduate and medical degrees.

Also, most of our physicians have completed additional fellowship training in subspecialty areas of plastic surgery. Our physicians are professors of plastic surgery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and have lectured nationally and internationally. Many have published books and journal articles in their fields of expertise and are frequently called upon for consultation around the world and often donate their services. They also hold leadership positions in national plastic surgery organizations, as well as at area hospitals.

About The Doctors

Excellence, caring, and education are the cornerstones of Charlotte Plastic Surgery. All of our surgeons are certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

In addition, seven of our plastic surgeons are members of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and most are certified by the American College of Surgeons, the governing body for all general and subspecialty surgeons.
