What patients say about . . .
W. Grant Stevens, M.D.Just wanted to follow up with you after 21 years. You gave me a breast implant years ago in your last month as chief resident at Washington University. I was a nurse there and got a great deal financially having 'students' do surgery and anesthesia. To make a long story short, I saw you interviewed recently on some celebrity related program my daughter had on. I thought of meeting you in 1984 or 85 and how you told me that your dream was to work in California - helping beautiful women stay that way! Congratulations on living your dream. Your bio and web site are great. My implants are GREAT, still. I am nearly 50 years old and have soft, shapely, healthy 36C breasts. Not only that, but I have breast fed babies since the surgery without any problems. Just thought you might be interested in some of your first and finest (!) work. Good luck and continued success.
Hi Nicole,
I used your site in helping to decide whether I wanted to get implants or not and it was extremely helpful...but there was something missing.
I was unable to locate any information anywhere about the effects of implants on swimming speed. I have worked as a lifeguard on the beach for the last 8 summers and have raced extensively. I went to Grant Stevens and he did not really know how much they would affect my speed. He did go as large as he could while allowing me to still run (with a swimsuit or two jog bras), which was helpful. The only information I found reguarding sports referred to women still being able to bench the same amount after the surgery.
I have gotten noticably slower swimming! (even though the men seem to think I have gotten faster. hee hee) I am 5'6" 115lbs and went from a lopsided 34 A/AA to a perfect 34D. (I was expecting to get somewhat slower, but did not know how much).
Maybe you could add a section for effects of implants on athletes in different sports? I know there aren't a great number of women that are THAT concerned about still being able to workout and compete, but there have got to be a few.
Also I would like to praise Dr Stevens!!! I aksed for breasts like Leilani Duenas (playboy model) and gave him photos of her to work from. Mine look almost exactly like hers!!! It is amazing. I have attached a bikini top self portrait from February. He made them look so real that nobody even questions if they are mine or not even though they are large for my body:)
Thanks, Debbie
I want to thank you for making me feel more like a woman. Before my BA in 12/01 I was very flat chasted and always had this longing for a more shapely figure. You have given me confidence I have forever longed for and a body that my boyfriend tells all his friends about. I give your name to every girl that tells me how beautiful my breasts are. They are all envious. I love you Dr. Steven's. Love Always, SM
Dear Dr. Stevens,
Thank you again for the gift certificate to Café del Rey you gave me last Friday when I was in for my follow up. We had a great lunch break before heading home to San Diego. Thanks, too, for making my breast lift/reduction "experience" so easy. You and your wonderful staff (especially Patrice and Maria!) are the BEST! There must be 100+ plastic surgeons between San Diego and LA but I would choose you again - in a heartbeat!
Toni
Dr. Stevens and Patrice,
I want to thank you both for taking such good care of me before during and after my surgery. I cannot describe the change in my life since my reduction procedure. Dr. Stevens, I hope God continues to bless your hands - this surgery is truly a gift! Thanks! I think you will be pleased to see how I've healed when I return for my one-year follow up in December. A special thanks to Patrice and Charlie for their special attention - you have a great staff.
Michelle
I was so excited when I got home from my pre-op, I just had to say thank you. You have made me feel so comfortable in everything that you have done, and you have been so kind in helping me in every way you could, I just wanted to say thank you! Being wonderful seems to be your specialty so this brings warm appreciation and sincere thanks!
Danielle
Dr. Stevens,
Thank you for the exceptional job you did for me with my breast augmentation. I am so happy! I love them??
Cindy Lee
Dr. Stevens,
This is actually a Thank You card for the beautiful body you've given me. This summer has been so much fun with the new top part! You do great work Dr. Stevens. I hope to send some friends your way soon. I looked for you & your wife at "Taste of LA!" Hope you've had a great summer even without the sun!
A very happy patient - Cathy
My new "D" cups put a smile on my squeaky clean face. Thanx so much for the wonderful and thoughtful facial gift you provided. It was much appreciated.
Ms. C
Thank you Doc! They're perfect. : ) Wendy
Dr. Stevens,
I had a breast augmentation with lift on March 17th. I am very happy with the results. I had a very uneventful recuperation and feel it was due to your experience and skill as a surgeon. Thanks also to your fine staff: Charlie, Sally, Patrice and Maria. They were all so friendly, warm and helpful. Thanks again, you're the best!
June
Dearest Grant:
A work of art can be a thing of beauty if created by a master. Thank you master : )
With love and greatest appreciation.
Janie
Dear Dr. Stevens,
When I was in the office for my follow up a couple of weeks ago, I saw you so briefly, only having time to ask you a couple of questions and then you had to leave. I wanted to take this opportunity to let you know how happy I am with the results of my surgery and how happy I am that I chose you to perform it. I have two friends who have had this surgery and I have seen a couple performed on the Discovery Channel.
In seeing and experiencing these others, I have a great appreciation for what an outstanding surgeon you are. My recovery has been without a hitch and I couldn't be happier with the shape and size of my breasts. It's a whole new comfortable world for me. I feel very smart and very luck to have found you.
Thank you again.

Marina Del Rey, CA 90292Dear Dr. Stevens and Staff:
I can't believe that four months has passed since my breast reduction surgery. I have been so thrilled with the results. It truly has given me reason to go on to further improve my health and appearance. I feel lighter and I do stand taller. My friends ask me what have you done to yourself? My breast are actually better than they were when I was in my twenties and early thirties.
I will turn 55 on August 21 and realize that the aging process can now be an exciting one. My husband suggested I consult with you after watching a report on NBC news of the "Stevens Bra Lift" He knew that the one part of my body that had once been firm and full was now beginning to sag becoming uneven and uncomfortable and I was just about to give up trying to do anything about it. What he did not know is that you were recommended to me as one of the best plastic surgeons in California and that I had been planning to consult with you when the time was right for a face lift. As a flight attendant with a major airline we are constantly sharing health and beauty information with flying partners. Your name is one that is both recognized and respected.
Whenever I come to your office whether for a facial or to see Dr. Griffin for skin care I realize that I am being provided with the most advanced procedures available today. Please add my name to your list of happy patients. I would recommend any person who is considering any type of cosmetic or esthetic procedure to first consult with you and your staff. Thank you all at The Institute for your compassion and brilliance.
Most sincerely,
Dotti

I found your web page and had to share my experience. Since my 40s, I've had my mom's neck (turkey neck) so I wanted to look into a face lift based on what my best friend's mom discussed with me and the fact that my boyfriend said he'd help financially. I interviewed 3 surgeons and , with the recommendation of an acquaintance, found Dr. Grant Stevens and Marina Plastic Surgery Assoc. Upon entering the office, I was immediately impressed the warmth and friendliness of the staff. I was so nervous and thought that everyone in the waiting area was looking at me like, what is she doing here. The office was comfortable and made me feel less intimidated.
I met with the doctor's nurse and watched some informational videos regarding the procedures I wanted. Seemed that since I was there, I might as well learn all about everything I was interested in. I then met the Dr. He was so handsome, friendly, made me feel so comfortable and at ease, answered all questions to great detail and we seemed to have interests in common. I was then directed to his Director, Charlie Sheridan-a beautiful blond woman (in fact, everyone I met in the office was beautiful). She made me feel relaxed and assured that I had chosen a professional. I was given a price quote and put under no pressure whatsoever.
Three weeks later, I had a total face lift, brow lift, upper and lower eyes. I'm sure you think I must be a total nut, but I thought that since I was going to be "put under", I might as well go for it. The anesthesiologist even called me a couple of days before surgery to discuss the upcoming procedure and Dr. Stevens' surgery center made sure I felt at ease. (ya, right, how could I be comfortable - the unknown, right?!) I'd never had any kind of surgery before, so if this is normal, I didn't know it. To make a very long story short, I had the surgery, recovered without, I repeat, without any pain. I still have the pain pills. Yes it was uncomfortable! I was swollen, bruised and groggy, but not in pain.
The recurrent visits to Dr. Grant Stevens and staff was incredible. They talked and assured when I was so anal about bruises and thought I would never look the same again. Patrice, Maria-his most accomplished nurses. Sandra - "jack" of all trades at the front desk. His aestheticians that took care of my "new face" after. Charlie, his Director - I can't believe she really remembers everyone's name when they come in past her office. Even his billing department knew my name and kept telling me how beautiful I looked.
This December, I had breast augmentation and laser resurfacing. As previously, I returned to Dr. Stevens. Twice a year, his informative seminars, seem to give us additional information on all of the new procedures and to reconnect with his wonderful staff. My monthly visits to his Spa for facials keep my skin toned. I learned, for the first time in my life, how important good skin care is. I know, I'm a slow learner!!!
In reference to breast augmentation,I was so afraid because I just wanted to look the way I did before two beautiful children. I have a 17 year-old daughter and didn't want her to think her mom was vain or stupid. I just wanted full breasts, not sagging sacks. Again, his staff, all nurses, anesthesiologist (the same one as before) and Dr. Stevens came through. I was sore (in pain) after surgery and very swollen. This time I used pain pills. I thought I'd never get smaller and looked in the mirror (my favorite pastime) to "giant boobs". Slowly (for me it was 2 1/2 weeks) I stopped hurting and lost the swelling. I'm now the size I wanted to be (before kids) and I'm most comfortable and pleased with my new breasts. My boyfriend "really" likes them.
I've not read your other testimonials, but wanted to share with you the incredible experience I've had with Dr. Stevens. No, I'm not an ad for him, but they say you really gain a great relationship with your favorite DR. Plastic surgery is something I thought I would NEVER do-I'm a runner, nutrition "expert" and felt aging is part of life. However, why not help Mother Nature along if possible. IM GLAD I MET DR GRANT STEVENS AND I LOVE MY FACE AND BREASTS.

I had my BA three days ago and I am so happy with the results. Through your site I was able to research the procedure fully and alos choose some highly qualified doctors. It was quite an experience to go for connsultations since I was already so informed. Many doctors talked down to me as if my research meant nothing. Others gave me such vague answers that I could not pinpoint what their specialty was. When I finally went to see Dr. Stevens, I was so happy to find someone that was enthusiastic about his practice and his patients. He showed me so much respect and understanding. I was won over by his warm manner and his amazing knowledge of all the options available. His staff helped me get a surgery date exactly when I wanted it. They were all great in supporting my decision. All his nurses that have had the procedure were willing to tell me all about their experiences. The surgery went off so well. I really don't remember a thing. I suddenly have very large breasts that continue to amaze me. I am sore, but not in pain. I am already up and about and showing them off some what. I can't wait for my mother and sistier to see. I want them to visit Dr. Stevens also. I just feel that of all the doctors I consulted with, he was the only one who cared about me. He wants me to be happy and I appreciate that.
Paula
I just wanted to tell you what a wonderful ps Dr. Grant Stevens is. He did my implants in Nov. 99, and they turned out perfect, and the pain or the bruising weren't near as bad as I had expected. He also did lipo on my hips, inner and outer thighs in Jul. 00. That is turning out very nice also. Him and all of his staff are wonderful. I couldn't ask for any more in a ps than I got from Dr. Stevens. I am completely satisfied. Sincerely, Paula Bhenson4@aol.com

I have wanted to get a ba since I was 16, 15 years later I decided it was time and began to look into it, I went to numerous consultations and couldn't find anyone I was comfortable with. They all seemed to blurt out their memorized spiel without letting me get a word in edgwise. I honestly had almost given up all hope but decided to give it one more try, and went to see Dr. Stevens.
Dr. Stevens was warm, caring and confident. He was the first ps to talk to me not at me, treating me as an individual not just another patient, he was interested in why I wanted the operation, what I expected from it, he answered all my questions as if it were the first time he had ever heard them. His staff was also out of this world, honestly everyone was so kind and supportive, the personal care I received was amazing. My mother who works at a doctors office in NY couldn't believe how well I was treated in comparison to the way patients are treated in her office.
The anesthesiologist rang me the night before my big day to see if I had any questions and I had quite a few since it was my first time going under, but after talking to her I felt so much more comfortable. The operation itself, all I remember was chatting with one of the RN's and the anes! ticiologist, saying hello to Dr. Stevens, I took a deep breath and I was out like a light. The next thing I knew was being driven home and my chest felt very tight. That night both the anesthesiologist and Dr. Stevens called me at home to make sure all was well, and it was. 2 days later I was off the pain pills and went in for my first post op visit were I was given a new bra and told I could now shower. While I was being looked at I have to admit I never looked down, maybe afraid of what I'd see.
I got home that evening and before taking off my bra for the first time, I prepared myself to not freak out, everything I've read says it takes a few weeks...months before I'll see the results I wished for. So I took a deep breath looked in the mirror and slowly pealed off my bra. I couldn't believe it, WOW my breasts were absolutly beautiful! Sure they were a little bruised and swollen but not nearly as bad as I expected. They looked exactly like what we discussed during my pre-op.I couldn't get the smile off my face honestly I was overcome with joy. I called Charlie Sheridan, Dr. Stevens patient advocate and thanked her repeatedly for getting me in when she did. And in my second Post-op visit I thanked Dr. Stevens over and over as well.
I am so pleased with my results, I finally have the body I always thought I should've been born with, and it was so easy, I can't believe I didn't get a ba sooner but I had to fi! nd the one piece of the puzzle that was missing, Dr Stevens.
