Dr. Dowden and Breast Implants
Dr. Dowden has been working with breast implants since 1977. He was with the Plastic Surgery Department at the Cleveland Clinic for 13 years, where he held the position of Head of the Section of Breast Surgery, prior to entering private practice.
Dr. Dowden does all methods of breast augmentation, including under the muscle and over the muscle, and uses all the incision locations, nipple, under-breast, underarm (axillary) and through the navel (TUBA). He uses all types of implants, round, shaped, contoured, anatomical, and uses both textured and smooth surface types. He uses both the saline (saltwater) filled and the silicone gel filled implants. He takes pride in being able to help his patients determine what type of procedure will best meet their individual needs.
Dr. Dowden has written numerous articles, scientific papers, and book chapters about plastic surgery of the breasts, and has lectured extensively overseas and in South America. He has been on the faculty of many teaching and instructional courses dealing with plastic surgery of the breast.
Although most of his patients come from Ohio and the surrounding six states (Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and New York) Dr. Dowden has patients from almost every state, as well as from Canada, Mexico, and several countries in Europe and the Middle East. Special facilities and programs are available to assist the out-of-state patients, helping to make the arrangements as easy as possible for them.
Dr. Dowden does both primary breast surgery, and corrective breast surgery, with and without implants. He is fully certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
