1/09 I am writing to share the wonderful experience of choosing Doctor Richard Dowden in Mayfield Heights, Ohio to perform my breast augmentation. I am so happy with the experience and felt it was important to share it with others. Doctor Richard Dowden and his staff are extremely professional and place great value in making sure their patients understand all the risks, benefits and long term commitments before the surgery. Their process to ensure proper sizing was extremely accurate and as a result, I am completely satisfied! No surprises. Choosing Dr. Dowden as my surgeon was the first of many reasons why I am happy with the results. Dr Dowden is extremely intelligent and committed to his patients and practice. Best Regards, DM   October 1, 2007 KP Mansfield, OH A Life Changing Experience I am 25 years young and have been married for 1 of the 6 years I have been with my husband!  I am currently working in the health field pursing my Masters and on a waiting list for clinicals to graduate with my RN degree.  With this being said, I am a caretaker!  I have always cared about other people and most importantly their health.  Growing up, I had the mentality that I would NEVER get plastic surgery.  I always thought of it as fake, unhealthy, and unnecessary.  Why fix something that was not broken? I have always been an active, on the go person.  Along with this characteristic, I also had small breasts and inverted nipples.  My father has inverted nipples which later on in life, I found out was hereditary.  All the years of getting dressed every morning and yanking and tugging at my undergarments and clothes along with complaining of my breast size, I thought to be completely normal.  I thought that every women felt the way I felt so I did not think anything of it.  I thought it was normal to put on a bathing suit and be embarrassed of my small breasts, or to buy padded bras to fill out shirts in hopes no one would notice that one day my breast seemed full and the next they were smaller than ever!  I thought it was normal that it hurt to have my husband touch my breasts, especially my nipples.  I never liked my chest looked at or touched. I have a friend who is an RN. She is 40 years young and takes great care of herself and family.  She opted to get breast augmentation by Dr. Dowden a few years ago.  She stated it was the best decision she had ever made for herself and would recommend Dr. Dowden over and over again.  I had started to research and made a few phone calls.  I never had the guts to set up an appointment until 1 year ago.  My husband was sick of me talking about "it" and encouraged me to either make an appointment or quit complaining about "it!"  I took his advice and made an appointment with Shirley! Shirley, the most genuine sincere nurse I have ever met, worked with my crazy schedule like no other office ever will!!  She came in early and spent 4 hours with both my husband and I while I was crying and asking a lot of questions.  I knew I wanted to have my nipples surgically fixed and my breasts enlarged, but I did not want to admit it.  I was very scared.  What if something went wrong?  What if I was making the wrong decision?  Was I too young?  Shirley did a wonderful job of answering all of our questions.  The next step was making an appointment with Dr. Dowden prior to surgery. When we met with Dr. Dowden, he told me EVERYTHING that could possibly go wrong with the surgery!  We went over long term care, finances, the whole nine yards.  It was a lot to take in and I even questioned my decision then whether I should be making this decision.  Was it unethical?  Unhealthy?  But I knew this was something I had always wanted to do.  I wanted to be satisfied with myself! Dr. Dowden worked with my crazy schedule and ended up performing my surgeries on July 3 which meant he made a special trip to see me on the morning of July 4th!  My surgery went AMAZING and the pain was minimal.  I am glad I had the procedure done at such a young age, because I will be able to enjoy my body, enjoy shopping, wearing bathing suits, and cute undergarments.  My husband and I know that I have made the right decision!  Even our personal life has been touched!  My self esteem is so much better and I feel like I have normal breasts.  Every penny I spent was more than worth it!  My advice to any woman is, if you do not feel great in your skin, and you are a candidate for this procedure, you may want to think twice!  Dr. Dowden is an amazing honest physician who I greatly respect and appreciate.  He has changed my outlook on life and how I feel personally.  I can’t thank him enough or begin to express the amount of gratitude that I have for him and his staff!  He has made my husband and I very happy and thankful!
