Dr. Bern's Philosophy
Plastic Surgery comes from the ancient Greek "to change form." Plastic Surgery consists of reconstructive surgery, where the goal is to restore an injured or ill patient to normal structure and function. Cosmetic or aesthetic surgery attempts to create a better than normal appearance in the face of aging or genetics. The distinction between reconstructive and cosmetic surgery is not always clear and the plastic surgeon strives to make all of his patients look as good as possible. This is done in the least invasive way available and involves a variety of innovative techniques.
