• Breast enhancement: Breasts may require augmentation, reduction or elevation. Breast augmentation using breast implants enlarges the breasts by one or more cup sizes. Small incisions for the placement of the implants are made under the breasts (inframammary), in the areola (periareolar) or in the armpit (axillary).
• Breast reduction requires the removal of tissue via incisions around the areola and under the breast.
• A breast lift (mastopexy) “lifts” the breasts and nipples by removing excess skin and repositioning the remaining tissue. This procedure requires incisions similar to those used in a traditional breast reduction.
