Breast Implants and Breast Augmentation Stories from our Visitors

If you have already read Nicole's Story, you have a pretty good idea what this section of the website is all about. After several women emailed their breast augmentation stories to us, we thought it would be great to have women share their full-length recovery stories after their breast implant surgeries for everyone's benefit. Thankfully, many women have contributed, some in more detail than others.

Here are the stories of our visitors. Many names have been changed for privacy. Where appropriate, there is detail in parentheses so you can decide if you are interested. Click on a name to read.

Happy and Confident and Wish Anyone Else Luck!

I am 23yrs. old and I have wanted a breast augmentation off and on for about a year. Some people I talked to said I did not need it, but I wasn't really sure. Finally, I just got fed up with having to buy shirts that had a full back and thicker shoulder straps so it would hide my bra and straps. Plus, I just wanted to feel more like a woman with full breasts. At the beginning of February I made a consultation appointment with a local plastic surgeon where I live, here in Spokane, WA.

I was planning on having a few consultation appointments with a couple different plastic surgeons too, but he and his nurses made me feel comfortable and it felt right, so I went with him. He measured me and told me that my perfect size would be C/D cup. He was kind of strict on not having me go any bigger. I was not really sure exactly how big I wanted to be, but I knew I wanted around a tight C cup or loose D cup, so I just went with his advise. His consultation was around 40 min. long and very thorough. I was happy!

I made my appointment to have it done Wednesday, February 27, 2002. I had to pay the full price a week before surgery. That was $4,100. They had told me to make sure that I did not have any aspirin or blood thinning drugs. I had to get my prescriptions a day before surgery, which was percocet and some antibiotics. I had been pretty nervous even a week before surgery. I had to be there at 7:00A.M. And surgery was at 8:00A.M.

I arrived at 6:50 A.M. My boyfriend, Dave was with me and we had to arrive at the back of the clinic (the same place that I went to for my consultation). It was very empty, one nurse, Dave, and me. The nurse had me come back while Dave stayed in the little lobby area. I went into a small changing room and she had me take all my clothes off and put a robe on that opened in the front. She then led me to an open room with a couple hospital beds and one was for me. She put a plastic blanket on me that was hooked onto a blow dryer thing that blew the whole blanket up warm. It was nice! It was so cold in there. She hooked me up to an IV with relaxing drugs in it. She put some numbing medicine on my hand where the IV is supposed to go in so, the IV wasn't even that bad.

After all that was over, she went and got Dave. Dave sat next to me and kept me company. The anesthesiologist came and asked if I had any questions. I had never asked if there was going to be a tube down my throat, so I did. He said yes, but not to worry, that it would be fine. So I just sucked it up, by that time I was feeling pretty relaxed and good.

Surgery time! The nurse came back and told Dave that he had to go and that when I was ready they would call him to come up. We said our goodbyes and they wheeled me off. They wheeled me into another cold room, which they hurried and hooked me back up to the blow dryer blanket. There were now 2 nurses that were talking among themselves and the anesthesiologist was changing my IV bags. I started to feel my hand turn cold so I looked at it. The anesthesiologist told me that he was changing my IV bag and that's why I felt coldness. He then placed an oxygen mask on my face and told me to breathe. That's the last I remember.

I woke around 10:00 A.M. My chest felt really heavy and hot. Around 10-15 min. of being awake I felt nauseous. The nurse gave me a little bucket thing in case I had an accident. I only felt nauseous for only about 5 min. then the whole thing went away. The nurse called Dave around 10:30. The nurses gave me juice to drink and were really great. The nurse asked me if I remember when they were wheeling me out of surgery. Of course I didn't but she said that I looked down at my chest and said, "Yeah, I have boobies". Anyway, Dave showed up 10 min. later and stayed with me for around 15 min. and got me dressed and out the door.

I don't even remember the ride home but I know we arrived around 10 after 11:00. Dave ran and got me something to eat ( Zips deep fried fish). I fell asleep on the couch around 2:00 P.M. and woke around 6:30. I went to sit up and couldn't move. My chest was on fire when I would go to move in the sitting up position. I just couldn't do it on my own. Dave had to put his hands underneath my back and lift me up while tears filled my eyes. Before he did that he had a pain pills with water waiting for me on the coffee table. Once I was sitting up the pain only lasted for a few minutes then I was okay. I went to sleep okay that night.

I woke up, couldn't move, very sore. Dave had to do the same things with his hands under my back to lift me up. I wasn't very hungry. Took my pills as usual. Took pills through out the day without eating (my bad). Around 6:30, I got sick. Totally tasted like chewed up aspirin. Definitely, eat with your meds! Went to sleep and slept okay.

Friday morning, or I should say noon I woke up. I was by myself this time ( Dave had to work). I dealt with rising to the sitting position when I woke up. I made myself something to eat and this time only having to take 1 pain pill instead of 2. I took off the sports bra that the doctor sent me home in to get a peek. Dave got home and took some pics. Both of us are very happy with the results so far. Slept okay that night.

3 days after surgery. I woke at 1:00 today. I am feeling pretty good. Dave had to rise me again when I woke up but the pain was not as bad. Dave and I drove 35 miles to a nearby town called Coeur d' Alene. We went to the mall and walked around a bit. Walking around to much makes my chest feel heavy and sore. Relaxed the rest of the night.

Day by day I feel better. It has taken a couple of weeks before I can even sleep on my side. Every week feels better and my breasts are softening up nice. I am very happy and confident and wish anyone else luck!
