I have worked for my surgeon for about two years. So I was fortunate in that I didn't have to go through the process of finding the right surgeon for me. I have wanted to get my breasts done ever since I stopped breastfeeding my daughter. She literally sucked the life out of them.
I finally decided to consult with him in January. I was totally nervous because my boss was going to have to see my boobs. But, he was awesome like I knew he would be. I mean, I help with consults so, I knew that he makes people feel comfortable. From there, I just had to pick an implant size and get the finances together.
Choosing an implant size was kind of hard for me. I didn't want to go to big. For one, because I didn't want to go porn-esque, and two, some of my family didn't approve. I was already a c. So, I went with 375 saline to be "over-filled" to make up for the size differences in my breasts.
The day of surgery, I was first case so I just had to be to the surgery center at 7:30. I was most nervous about my reaction to the general anesthesia. Not that I wouldn't come out or anything, but what I would say or do if I was loopy from it. I have to work with these people, so I didn't want to embarrass myself. I just remember laying on the table, going to sleep and then waking up with nausea and an immense amount of pressure on my chest. I had a lot of nausea the rest of the day and that evening.
The recovery process was very smooth for me. I really didn't have a lot of pain. Initially in the first 3 days, but most of it was a pressure on my chest. Each day was better. But, I did experience some constipation from the pain meds. Women don't like to talk about that, but it's no fun.
The stitches came out at 7 days. They didn't bother me until about the 6-7 day. They were really starting to itch in the healing process. At our office we use steri-strips over the incisions for about 6-8 weeks. They really help with the scar. It is very thin and light. I have stopped going to the tanning bed. I could go and keep them covered but I figure just to be safe I wont do it at all.
So, now its just getting the scar lighter. After 8 weeks of steri-strip use I will start using scar cream. All in all it has been a very positive and easy experience. I do kind of wish that I had gone just a little bit bigger though. But when I think about that, I think about the difficulty in finding bras and crossing my arms and I realize that Double D is probably big enough for now.
