Breast Implants and Breast Augmentation Stories from our Visitors

If you have already read Nicole's Story, you have a pretty good idea what this section of the website is all about. After several women emailed their breast augmentation stories to us, we thought it would be great to have women share their full-length recovery stories after their breast implant surgeries for everyone's benefit. Thankfully, many women have contributed, some in more detail than others.

Here are the stories of our visitors. Many names have been changed for privacy. Where appropriate, there is detail in parentheses so you can decide if you are interested. Click on a name to read.

Happily Suprised

My plastic surgeon was Dr. Michael D. Cohen

I am 18 years old and just had my breast augmentation with a lift yesterday! I understand I am relatively young to have had this surgery, but I have been struggling with my asymmetry for years and I really wanted to do something about it before I went off to college. I was very fortunate to have the support of my mother, who is a doctor and had connections to the best surgeon and anesthesiologist this side of the Mississippi.

Leading up to the surgery, and on the morning of, I was freaking out. I had read lots of stories online of other people's experiences and a lot of them really scared me. People spoke about excruciating pain that they never though existed. Because I am young and was extremely small, especially in my right breast, I thought my pain would be extremely bad.

Fortunately, I was very wrong. Going into the O.R., I was nervous, but I had my mom right by my side and my doctors and nurses were so nice, holding my hand and making me feel very comfortable. Though it took about 6 or 7 times to get the I.V. in my tiny veins, once it was in, the rest of the procedure went perfectly. After it was in, they gave me the sedative, and the next thing I knew I was waking up in recovery. It felt like not even a minute had passed.

When I woke up and was in a state that I actually knew what was going on, I was surprised by how I felt. Due to the fact that I was on pain medication and they had given my nausea medicine, I really felt fine. Of course, I was very sore and still am sore today, but the pain is nothing like I had expected. Besides the occasional sharp pains, it just feels like I worked out my pectoral muscles really, really vigorously the day before (because my implants were placed under the muscle).

Anyway, I have been on prescription pain medicine for the past 24 hours, but I think I am going to switch to advil soon because the pain meds make me dizzy and sleepy. I just wanted to share my story with all of you guys so you know it really is not that bad! I know every person is different, and my surgeon was amazing, but for anyone out there that is freaking out like I was, don't worry. The procedure is easy and quick, and everything is going to be fine!
