Breast Implants and Breast Augmentation Stories from our Visitors

If you have already read Nicole's Story, you have a pretty good idea what this section of the website is all about. After several women emailed their breast augmentation stories to us, we thought it would be great to have women share their full-length recovery stories after their breast implant surgeries for everyone's benefit. Thankfully, many women have contributed, some in more detail than others.

Here are the stories of our visitors. Many names have been changed for privacy. Where appropriate, there is detail in parentheses so you can decide if you are interested. Click on a name to read.

All the figure girls have them....

For as long as I can remember I have wanted bigger breasts like many girls. I never actually thought I would get breast implants though until it tied in with my true passion. The figure competitions. After my father passed away in March of 2010, and I graduated with my bachelors 6 months later, I needed to do something to fill my spare time to distract me from the sadness. I have always envied the women who did figure competitions and wanted to look like them. So I decided I was going to do it. I did my first show on my own and fell in love. Thats when I hired my figure coach and decided to get serious. After my second competition only training for 4 months he asked me how far I wanted to go in this industry. I said I wanted to go pro some day. He motioned to my chest and told me well then you are gonna have to take the plunge someday and get breast implants. Honestly it had been something I wanted to do, and to me this was the justification (I am really good at finding things to justify what I am going to probably do anyway). Plus I am very impulsive at times. I asked a former co-worker the name of her doctor and she happily told me.

So I checked out his website and I wasn't totally sure. I did a bunch of online hunting for reviews of him and found a different doctor to check out. I called and made appointments with both. I saw my friend's plastic surgeon first and knew I wanted to have him do it. 30 years of experience specializing in cosmetic breast surgeries, he and his staff made me feel so comfortable that I booked my surgery for 3 weeks later.

I could not afford to pay in full so I used Care Credit which was really quick and easy. I only went to the office once before my surgery and it was my consultation, he asked what size I was looking for, measured to see how many cc’s I could fit then asked saline or silicone. I chose silicone breast implants since I am very lean and didn't want rippling. He also convinced me that the periaoelar incision was the best choice for me because I have high seated breasts so the incision under the breast would show. Plus the scarring would be almost impossible to see due to the difference in coloring on the areola line. So, he convinced me. Then they mailed me my prescriptions the week before surgery as well as the information packet of what to do before and after surgery. I called once with a few questions and to request a note for time off of work. They were always so helpful! As was this forum for all of my questions and concerns.

Time flew by and the day was June 13th (surgery day!). To my surprise all of my friends and family were extremely supportive, as was my wonderful boyfriend. The day of surgery I had my pre-op which included an IV, the plastic surgeon marking me up, the drugs to calm me down just before surgery, and some caffeine in the IV. I also talked with the anesthesiologist who was so nice and helped ease my mind a lot by telling me they perform about 3,000 of those surgeries every year! Wow if that isn't a pro I don't know what is! Then before I knew it I was out cold from the anesthesia.

I woke up in the recovery area where I had began, I felt a bit groggy and my chest felt a little tight. I could see the bulges under my gown and instantly got really excited, I did it!! It was really happening! I actually felt fine but the nurse was super nice and brought me some sprite and crackers to ease my tummy from anesthesia before I headed home. I was ready about 45 min after the operation. My best friend was my ride and waited for me the whole time. All in all it only took about 1.5 hours in surgery, then 45 min and I was good to go. I stood on my own and dressed on my own with a little help. They had put a front fastening soft lightweight recovery bra on me that I was to stay in until day 3 when I could shower. Then they wheeled me out to my friends car and on our way home I was feeling so good I wanted to stop at Ride Aid and pickup the antibiotic prescription they had given me as a precaution. After wandering around the store I got a little dizzy and needed to sit. Then my chest started getting tight as the drugs wore off a bit.

The day before my surgery I had set up a bunch of pillows on the couch, moved the furniture to make it easy to get up with little arm strength, and pre-opened bottles and soups for myself. I also set alarms on my phone for every time I needed to take a pain pill which I put in little easy to open pill containers. Once I got home I took all my pills (oxycontin, oxycodone, and flexeril plus the antibiotic) then I just planted on the couch watching movies with my friend. After a couple hours I got up and got some snacks and more to drink I was feeling pretty good, and didn’t ask for much help being my independent self. Sleeping that night wasn’t bad, I woke up every 4 hours to take my pain meds but slept pretty well on my back.

Day 2 the pain injections he had placed throughout the muscles started to wear off a bit, so I started feeling a little more uncomfortable but it was very tolerable and I still managed to do everything for myself. That night I started feeling a little more uncomfortable trying to lay in bed was very difficult so I slept on the couch the next couple nights to make lying down easier and kept me from rolling over. Day 3 I was allowed to shower, I took off the gauze and got a bit whoosey because I am very squeamish and saw the incisions covered by the steri-strips. This was my first real glimpse at my new girls they were high and swollen but looked great! The shower made me dizzy so I cut it short and rested the remainder of the day. I would have to say that night was the most painful for me and getting up was pretty tough. Once I got to day 4 I started weaning off the pain meds (the constipation was brutal from them!) and just relying on muscle relaxers and Advil. The next few days just got better and better for me. By day 5 I was able to go out and run some errands.

At my 1 week post-op I drove myself and did fine, he said they looked great and were healing well. And that I didn’t need to come in until 6 weeks post-op. He also said I could do whatever I wanted so long as it didn’t make me uncomfortable. So I gradually started doing cardio, wearing sports bras, sleeping on my side. And by the time I was at 6 weeks I was feeling great! Almost back to normal. At my appointment my doctor couldn’t believe how well I had been healing, and said they will probably soften and drop a little more but other than that I was pretty much healed. So I resumed lifting, sleeping on my stomach, and bought some new bras. That was an awesome experience 34DD! Woo Hoo!

So now I am at almost 14 weeks and I feel and look amazing. I am back to 100% intensity for my workouts and feel amazing in everything I wear. This has been an incredible journey and I don’t have any regrets. The only thing I would change is that I would have saved up to pay for part of my surgery up front versus getting a long term loan. But now I am so much more confident I love the way my body looks in just about everything and wish I had done this sooner!

Best of luck to all of you considering this, it’s a big decision but if it is something you have wanted for years, do your research and you won’t regret your decision!
