Visitors' Stories -- Janet (page 2 of 2)

I was never really scared or nervous before the surgery. I'm one of these people who trust that things will go okay. The day of the surgery I was somewhat anxious as to some of the things that could go wrong such as bruising, bad reaction to the anesthesia or the possibility of capsular contraction but it was too late to change my mind. I was put to sleep only to wake up a couple of hours later with 2 cement grapefruits strapped to my chest.

My husband took me home and I camped out in my recliner. In fact that is where I slept because it was easier to stand up from the chair than from the bed. My husband helped me to and from the bathroom for the first 24 hours. I was fortunate and had no reaction to the anesthesia but I did take the pain pills as directed. The day after my surgery I had my first post-op visit. Until this time I had not unwrapped myself to look at my new physique. I was quite surprised and pleased. NO bruising or scarring but boy did I look BIG especially because of the swelling. After 2 ½ days of taking pain pills, I stopped taking the pills and realized that I felt better than when I was taking them!

Now three months and several post-op visits later, I do not need to go back to the doctor until my 1-year checkup. The implants have dropped, softened and look GREAT! This was an absolutely great experience. I now measure out to be a full 32C/small 32D.

So, the best advice I can give to those considering this type of surgery is:

1. Read this website and do your research. Know what you want before going to see a doctor.
2. Interview the surgeons and keeping interviewing them until you find one you feel completely comfortable with. Make sure the doctor will do what YOU want.
3. Go a little bigger than you think you want. You'll get use to the size when your breasts are swollen and then they will look small once the swelling goes down.
4. I highly recommend the trans-axilliary incision because if you're looking to enhance your breasts WHY would you want scars on them? Also, if your surgeon is as skilled as mine then he can make the incision on a natural crease under your arm which helps to hide the incision as it heals.
5. THANK YOU Nicole and Dr. Sepehr Egrari of Bellevue, WA. The both of you have made this the best decision I've ever made and I look and feel wonderful!
