Visitors' Stories -- Janet (page 1 of 2) My name is Janet and I had my breast augmentation done in March 2003. I'm 45 years old and was a 32AA. I've had 2 children but I never did any breastfeeding. I was one of those people whose breasts hardly enlarged during pregnancy and I was truly disappointed. I was hoping to experience the joys of a larger chest if only for a short while. Near the end of 2002 an acquaintance of mine started talking about her implants. I thought how nice it would be to do this but didn't think that I would be able to afford it. Three things happened in early January 2003. First, my 51 year old sister confided that she had been looking into breast implant surgery. Then my co-worker told me that 3 other co-workers were looking into breast surgery. Finally, my husband and I had a major disagreement (not over implants). So, wanting to be the first of my family and co-workers to do this AND because my husband wanted to make amends for our disagreement, I decided to go for it! My husband agreed to raise the cash for my operation. The funny part of this story is that my husband raised all $5500 for my augmentation by selling things on E-bay so I now jokingly refer to my breasts as my "E-bay boobs". Once I decided to do this I jumped into it with a vengeance. My husband started researching implants on the internet and found this website which looked very thorough. So I spent hours at this website. I read every word and looked at every picture. I decided how I wanted to look (a full C), where I wanted them placed (sub-muscular) and where I wanted the incision (trans-axilliary). Then I decided it was time for the next step. I chose 3 surgeons to interview. It is so important to find a plastic surgeon whom you feel comfortable with and who will do what you want! My husband and I went to the first interview with a list of questions that we found on this website. As soon as the doctor said "Now let me tell you how I perform the surgery" my husband and I looked at each other and knew that this was strike one. This surgeon was not going to do what I wanted!!! Then next surgeon was amazing. He answered all our questions, showed us pictures of his work and took his time with us. I had also brought pictures that I printed from off this website of how I wanted to look. He keep those with him as he discussed implant type (high profile or not, textured or smooth) and how full to fill them. The third surgeon was the same as the first who also said "now let me tell you how I do the surgery" which immediately turned us off. Having decided on a surgeon we then scheduled a date for surgery for May 2003. However, as luck would have it there was a cancellation in late March so I jumped at the opportunity for an earlier time. Having made up my mind to do this I wanted to get it done before I got scared and changed my mind. |
