Visitors' Stories -- Mary (page 1 of 2) I am 23yrs. old and I have wanted a breast augmentation off and on for about a year. Some people I talked to said I did not need it, but I wasn't really sure. Finally, I just got fed up with having to buy shirts that had a full back and thicker shoulder straps so it would hide my bra and straps. Plus, I just wanted to feel more like a woman with full breasts. At the beginning of February I made a consultation appointment with doctor John Adams. He is a local plastic surgeon where I live, here in Spokane, WA. I was planning on having a few consultation appointments with a couple different plastic surgeons too, but he and his nurses made me feel comfortable and it felt right, so I went with him. He measured me and told me that my perfect size would be C/D cup. He was kind of strict on not having me go any bigger. I was not really sure exactly how big I wanted to be, but I knew I wanted around a tight C cup or loose D cup, so I just went with his advise. His consultation was around 40 min. long and very thorough. I was happy! I made my appointment to have it done Wednesday, February 27, 2002. I had to pay the full price a week before surgery. That was $4,100. They had told me to make sure that I did not have any aspirin or blood thinning drugs. I had to get my prescriptions a day before surgery, which was percocet and some antibiotics. I had been pretty nervous even a week before surgery. I had to be there at 7:00A.M. And surgery was at 8:00A.M. I arrived at 6:50 A.M. My boyfriend, Dave was with me and we had to arrive at the back of the clinic (the same place that I went to for my consultation). It was very empty, one nurse, Dave, and me. The nurse had me come back while Dave stayed in the little lobby area. I went into a small changing room and she had me take all my clothes off and put a robe on that opened in the front. She then led me to an open room with a couple hospital beds and one was for me. She put a plastic blanket on me that was hooked onto a blow dryer thing that blew the whole blanket up warm. It was nice! It was so cold in there. She hooked me up to an IV with relaxing drugs in it. She put some numbing medicine on my hand where the IV is supposed to go in so, the IV wasn't even that bad. After all that was over, she went and got Dave. Dave sat next to me and kept me company. The anesthesiologist came and asked if I had any questions. I had never asked if there was going to be a tube down my throat, so I did. He said yes, but not to worry, that it would be fine. So I just sucked it up, by that time I was feeling pretty relaxed and good. |
