Visitors' Stories -- Tracy

May 15, 2001

No story can begin without a beginning. First of all, I'd like to say hello and welcome to my story. It is my hope that you will be both educated, informed, and enlightened about my progression to receiving implants.

I just recently turned 29. From the onset of puberty at age 12 to the age of 28, nature waved her ironic wand and determined that I would blossom in all ways but one: my breasts. My journey into womanhood began in a training bra, catapulted to a very cute 34B, then stalled in neutral at the age of 13. Because of this ironic twist, I never felt quite satisfied with my body. The blessed curse of womanhood (and the cruel hand of genetics...thanks mom) gave me curvaceous hips, thus transforming my body from beanpole to pear-shaped.

Due to the wonderful support of my husband (then fiancee) Brian, I suspected approximately five to six years ago that breast augmentation would be a wonderful way to improve my appearance, as well as enhance my self-worth. Brian, being the incredible technical genius and analytical left-brained individual he is, dove in with me to begin collecting data and gathering assessments regarding the benefits and risks of augmentation mammaplasty. Being a novice in this process at the time, I was unsure of what questions to ask. Going to the various plastic surgeons for consultation (at least 5 or 6 in this area that I can remember visiting) left me dazed and confused, unsure of what information I obtained and whether this information was right or wrong.

All the plastic surgeons I consulted with agreed under the muscle placement would bring about the best results. This is where the similarities ended. At the end of the final consult, I was left frustrated, confused, and catapuled back to square one.

Fortune (aka lack of funding at the time), as well as fate lent their hands in providing opportunity for me to wait to return to my dilemma a few years later. When the dust settled, I found myself in the year 2000, ready to once again pursue my conquest.

At this time, I was working as a RN clinical supervisor in a local family practice. Very often, pharmaceutical representatives visited the office (a majority of them being female with breast augmentations). It is my personal belief that had it not been for these ladies (and my astute husband, of course), I would not be sitting here now post-augmentation. During the course of time at the office, our conversations turned to the subject of augmentation. Several of these ladies had underwent the procedure. More often than not, one name arose, Dr. Vincent Voci. Either the ladies personally had the procedure performed by this doctor or knew of someone Dr. Voci had worked on. A consistent theme of competence, talent, dedication, enthusiasm, and patient satisfaction threaded the conversations and had a direct link to this plastic surgeon.

It was about this same time while doing his research, Brian came across a website called ImplantInfo. This site, whose primary focus was breast augmentation, provided support and information for anyone considering the procedure or those who had the procedure done. This became of the pieces I needed in clearing my muddied waters. The background information in sections such as the FAQ (frequently asked questions) section and the photo galleries provided the education I needed to feel more confident in pursuing my dreams of a more well-developed body.

I was able to take the information I obtained and proceeded to set up a consultation with Dr. Voci. Between Nicole's website and the meeting with Dr. Voci, I had the necessary information and comfort level to proceed with the surgery, which took place on May 12, 2000. Joy and rapture...my dreams came true!

Time has passed and my first ba anniversary has arrived and recently passed. I can tell you this surgery has far surpassed my husband and my expectations. I couldn't have asked for better results, not just physically but mentally. My self-esteem and confidence have been cultivated to a level I have never felt, nor could have imagined. I find myself wearing clothing that can accentuate or hide my figure, depending on the circumstance. At this point in my life, I find myself happy and content with my physical appearance. It is a wonderful and incredible journey I have undergone, one that I am truely appreciative of and will never forget...

Thank you for taking time out of your busy lives to share in my experience, happiness, and joy.

Tracy Blossom
