Visitors' Stories --Suzanne - page 1

I learned of Dr. John Tebbetts, of Dallas, TX, thru Nicole's website reference section. She recommended his book and I snatched it up! It was excellent information. I had looked for other MD's to give me any info but all I was given was generic pamphlets. I read Dr. Tebbetts book from cover to cover several times and was convinced I wanted him to do my surgery. I had several consults here where I live and every PS wanted to use the same implant (smooth round), the same incision (aerola) but of course varying sizes because they thought that is what I would want and they all used blunt instruments to tear the pectoralis muscle to make the pocket for the implant! Dr. Tebbetts method of using electrocautery to make precise incisions seemed unheard of here. When I asked my questions Dr. Tebbetts suggested for interviewing PS's, their responses were hesitant...they didn't know why I should know what I was asking about, I assume.

Anyway, my husband saw how much research I had done and was very supportive about who I chose. I chose January 26th for my BIG day! We flew in from SC on Wednesday, had our consult on Thursday (the first time I met Dr. Tebbetts...and I loved him)!, and on Friday, AM were in the office at 7:30 am getting ready for surgery. There were 6 of us. They took us in individually to our own rooms, we changed and they started our IV's. Dr. Tebbetts came in not too long after that and drew on my breasts where the implants would go. Then I read my book and took a nap. About 10ish they came in my room and gave me versed (a sedative) and then I walked to the OR suite. Got on the table, they strapped me in place (they do this so that after he gets the implants in and filled he can rotate you in all directions to make sure they are filled enough and look just right) and said "Good night"!

Then I woke up in a chair. I barely remember them putting on my clothes. And the funny thing is, I didn't feel any pain or discomfort at all! My husband was next to me and I was coughing..probably due to the endotracheal tube. He kept giving me Sprite to drink. Then I got in the wheel chair and was taken down to the car. We got back to the hotel room around 12:20. I ate some crackers and took my Motrin 800mg. Then we ordered some lunch. I dozed off and on thru the day and watched TV with my husband. Terrye (Dr. Tebbetts wife) had told me to do my arm raises, 5 each hour every hour til I went to bed. I also had to lie on my new breasts before retiring for the night. The day of surgery, my breasts were high, tight and big. All of which is to be expected. That night, I woke up everytime I turned over. And when I finally got up in the am, I was pretty stiff. The arm raises felt good and I did them most all day. And still do them periodically thru the day. I also continue to lie on my breasts faithfully every morning for 15 minutes. This helps prevent capsular contracture and helps them soften and settle.

You wanted to know my stats: Pre: 36 A, 5'7" 140#. I left the decision up to Dr. Tebbetts as to what would be the best for me. We went with the anatomicals, under the breasts, and 315cc R&L. Dr. Tebbetts said this would probably give me a very full C to a small D.

Right now they are still too high (looks like a shelf) and too tight. I am beginning to get feeling back. I have occasional electric-like shocks in various places on my breasts. Don't have feeling back in my nipples (cant wait for that to come back!). I am still taking 800mg of Motrin every 8 hours just for the stiffness. It helps me move much better. The Motrin is the ONLY 'pain' medicine I have taken since surgery!

The day after surgery, I went shopping with a current and very happy patient of Dr. Tebbetts. We were introduced by Terrye Tebbetts prior to me coming for surgery. (A wonderful, positive new friend now.) We went to Victoria's Secret and a few other places before we had lunch. Then I went back to the hotel and rested for a while. Then my husband and I went shopping again! This time we were out for a little bit longer but I really felt fine. The next morning, Sunday, we went to Dr. Tebbetts office and was checked by his nurse. Our flight left an hour and a half later.

My experience with Dr. Tebbetts and the girls in his office was the absolute best! I can't brag enough to my friends and the girls on the board. I would highly recommend him to you and to anyone that would ask me.

Hugs to you! Suzanne
