Visitors' Stories -- Silicone Implants since 1992 -Hi, My name is Jill and I received silicone implants in June of 1992, just before the big scare. I remember when Connie Chung did a big 20/20 interview, and after that, silicone went down from there but I had mine put in anyway. I was in the military and had them done at Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio Texas. Prior to entering the military, I was 240 lbs, and lost to 160 lbs to join the military, so my breast surgery was not only for cosmetic reasons, but it was well worth it. What clued me in on the fact that silicone implants did not cause any problems was when these women would come out of surgery after having them removed, and say "I feel great, all my pains and aches and illnesses are gone"!!!!! I work as a surgical nurse and asked a few surgeons and they said that was not possible to recover right after surgery. I decided to go for it and have now had them for 9 years. I have never had any type of immune or other disorder. I would love to see the silicone implants become available to all. When I signed my consent for surgery, all the risks were listed -- it was my choice. I would do it all over again. I had my son at 21 years old, my silicone implants put in about June of 92, and I am now 34 years old, and love it. Keep up the good work, no one could have talked me out of them, and no amount of money was worth ruining a company who made my self esteem much higher. Take Care, Jill |
