Visitors' Stories -- Silicone Implants Since 1977 - D

My experience with my silicone implants..

After having 3 children and breast feeding them, my breasts needed a lift and to be filled out again as they were before having my kids. When I had the implants done it wasn't to make me larger, it was done just to lift them back up where they use to be (my girls) and put back in place... With all the news about silicone implants and all the problems that they were causing in many women, it scared me to death..

I have gone back several times to my plastic surgeon (Gunner Graudins, MD) in Arlington Hts.,IL. Haven't checked in with him since 1994 or 95 to check and see if I had anything to worry about.. I feel luck is at my side for now, well since 1977. My only complaint is having a mammography done of my breasts..

I had a horrific experience back in 1994, had a mammography and I was squashed so much that I turned black and blue, green, yellow and purple... I haven't gone back since. The X-ray tech's out there are not really familiar with breast implants... I saw my OBGYN and she said, Oh My God, she got on the phone to find out who was the tech for that day so she could alert the hospital that she definitely did not have the proper training to X-ray breasts with implants. The x-ray tech could of ruptured my implants with the compression that was used on me. I will be having another check up with my OBGYN but no way will I go through that painfull experience that I had in 1994, and I know she will push for me to have another mammography done and I know I won't do it because of what happened before. Also what I here from friends who have gone through the same thing and then they know other women who have had the same experience. I feel that the above issue needs some attention.

I am 55 yrs. old now and have no complaints. The women who have the saline implants look and feel softer and much more bouncer. My implants are very moveable and softer then most I've seen and my breasts look great.. But I do worry about a rupture. I don't know what to believe when the news hits the media, I just hold my breath and hope they are wrong. 23 yrs. and still okay, guess I just have to turn the news off some times and just accept the alert about possible problems and not freak out and think that I have to go through an operation to have the implants removed and that terrible health issues are going to hit me. At this time this is about all I can say, but I have notified friends who are not on line what the issues are that you are presenting.. It's great to have your information at my finger tips. Your definitely put in my favorite places..
