Visitors' Stories -- Ricci - Benelli Lift (pictures) p.3

January 27, 2001 - 1 1/2 years after the surgery

Looking back at my before pictures and seeing what I have now, I'm very thankful that everything turned out the way it did. They're pretty soft, although I'm hoping technology will come out with softer and safer implants, and I'm very pleased with the shape and fullness. The right nipple still needs to be corrected so it's not as low on the breast as it is now, and I'm hoping to have that done in the next few months. I also wished I could have avoided the Benelli lift because of the slight scarring around the nipple, but I'm happy with the positioning and am glad I avoided a full lift. I saw a women who had sagging and had a special crease procedure (on this site, Lori #47) and she looks great! So if you have sagging and can avoid a lift, I would recommend it! But if you can't avoid the lift, Bennelli is the way to go.

My only other advice is to insist on adequate pain relief! Especially if you're already taking pain meds for chronic pain like I was at the time. See people who take pain meds require more pain medicine because their tolerance is higher then people who don't take pain meds. I should have insisted for more pain medicine because I was in a tremendous amount of pain. Not only is it important to find a doctor who is certified with a good reputation, it's very important that they're not afraid to prescribe pain medication. This is major surgery and can be very painful, especially when it's below the muscle and combined with a lift.

Dr. Silberman did a good job and is a nice man. He was conservative and spent a decent amount of time with me to ensure I was getting what I wanted. He wasn't pushy in any sense of the word. My only complaint was that he seemed skittish about prescribing pain medicine because I guess he is concerned about it's addictive qualities. But since I was already taking pain medication on a daily basis, he should have prescribed whatever was necessary to keep me comfortable. In the hospital my heart rate was through the roof which is a definite indicator when someone is in pain. I couldn't even move and it hurt to breath it was so bad the first few days.

However, I would recommend Dr. Silberman because of the quality of his work and I think his price was very fair considering how expensive some surgeons are!

Finally, I just want to say Thank You to Nicole again for this website. It was an invaluable tool for me when I was researching getting breast augmentation. I highly recommend that you read as much as you can before making your decision. Plus, read the posts from other women on this site and ask a lot of questions. Don't be afraid to post your questions and concerns,... that's what this site is here for!
