Breast Augmentation & Breast Implant Information Web - Frequently Asked Questions
Why is the Forum slower than the other parts of the site?
Two factors contribute to this. The first one is that the Forum is the busiest part of the site, so there are more people waiting to access it at any given moment.
The second factor is that the Forum is not a static page, but rather a program that handles all the message posts, searches, reads and updates. And, since it's a program that has to run every time you access the Forum, read a message or post a message, it takes some additional time.
Add to this the fact that the Forum has to communicate with your PC to determine when you were there last so it knows which messages are "New" to you, and you can understand just how much more complicated the Forum is when compared to a static page.
Just how busy is the Forum? -- In October 1998, the index.cgi program that controls the Forum ran from 25,000 to 35,000 times per day -- every day. That's about 25 times PER MINUTE.Updated: 01/17/2007
