How The Archives Work:The ImplantInfo Archives were was created to address the speed with which messages age off the main board. To achieve a balance between depth of content and page size/load speed, the Main Breast Augmentation and Breast Implants Q&A Forum is set to "roll over" at 500 messages. When there are 500 messages in the Main Forum, the next message posted causes the oldest message to be moved into a holding area. Each morning, the messages in the holding area are moved into the Archives. Each Forum Archive has a practical limit of between 1,200 and 3,000 messages. Anything over that has a negative impact on performance. The Archive Index would be too big and take too long to spool through you modem. Searches would take too long as well. Unfortunately, 1,200 to 3,000 messages doesn't cover a very large timespan. At best, the Archive would hold 6 days worth of messages. Under the worst case scenario, the Archive would only hold 3 days worth of posts.
